About Course

Participants will learn basic knowledge of disciplines connected to behavioural science including cognitive psychology, social psychology, and behavioural economics. Moreover, they will acquire how this knowledge can be used to change individual behaviour. The aim of the course is not only to provide attendees with fundamental concepts and methods of behavioural science but also to highlight its importance to combat serious societal problems (e.g., discrimination, refugee integration, etc.)

The course will answer three simple questions:

  1. What is individual behaviour and why is it important? To answer this question an introduction
to concepts such as attention processes, belief, motivations, systems 1 and 2, and biases
    will be provided.
  2. How can individual behaviour be changed? To answer this question, an in-depth explanation
of what behavioural interventions are (i.e., nudging) and how they can be implemented with
a particular focus on the EAST framework.
  3. How can behavioural science inform policymakers? This section will particularly focus on
migration-related issues such as community cohesion and inequalities.
